Lot, serial and expiry (AI 10, 21, 17)
Optional GS1 application identifiers that travel inside the QR code.
A GS1 Digital Link URI can carry more than the GTIN. PaqLink supports three optional values on a product:
- Batch / lot (AI 10) — up to 20 characters from the GS1 character set (letters, digits, common punctuation).
- Serial (AI 21) — same rules; for individually numbered items.
- Expiry (AI 17) — six digits, YYMMDD, validated as a real date.
Lot and serial go into the URI path in the canonical order (/01/<gtin>/10/<lot>/21/<serial>); expiry goes into the query string (?17=271231). Scanners that understand GS1 Digital Link — including 2D retail scanners in "GS1 DL" mode — read them back as if they were on a 1D barcode.
The resolver walks up the tree: a scan of a lot-specific code resolves to your product's record and forwards the expiry parameter to the destination page, so one product record serves every lot.
