Adding a product: GTIN rules
What a valid GTIN is, why we store 14 digits, and what happens when you save.
Choose Add product on the dashboard. The GTIN is the number under the barcode you already print — 8, 12, 13 or 14 digits. We verify the check digit (a typo is rejected with a clear message) and store it zero-padded to 14 digits, because that is the form the GS1 Digital Link standard requires in a URI.
Each workspace can hold one product per GTIN. On save the product's record is published to the PaqLink resolver, and its QR code becomes live immediately.
Fields
- Name, brand, description, image URL — shown on the hosted product page.
- Default destination — where a scan lands: the hosted product page, the hosted e-label, or a URL of your own. You can change it any time, even after printing (see Changing where a printed code goes).
- Lot, serial, expiry — optional GS1 qualifiers encoded into the QR (see Lot, serial and expiry).
