Calculating energy for wine

kJ and kcal per 100 ml from alcohol, residual sugar, acidity and glycerol.

In the e-label section of the product form, enter alcohol (% vol), residual sugar (g/L) and optionally total acidity and glycerol (g/L), then Calculate. The Energy row is filled in every language; carbohydrate and sugars rows are filled from residual sugar where they were empty. Nothing is saved until you press Save.

Factors are those of Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 Annex XIV: alcohol 29 kJ/g (7 kcal/g, 0.789 g per ml), carbohydrate 17 kJ/g (4 kcal/g), organic acids 13 kJ/g (3 kcal/g), polyols 10 kJ/g (2.4 kcal/g). Example: 12.5% vol with 2 g/L sugar gives 289 kJ / 70 kcal per 100 ml.
